William Hill, CPays and Webroute To Team Up

An interesting development in my inbox this morning. It appears WIlliam Hill casino is ditching the Cryptologic casino platform and moving to Playtech, while at the same time merging with the infamous CPays brand and the lesser known offshoot Webroute Services.

Interesting and probably good too. For those that don’t know, CPays are a very aggressive and generally unpopular online casino operator who manage a few brands. I’ve never liked them myself - they are happy to have spamming affiliates and do whatever it takes to get players and keep them, and complaints are numerous. Whenever I came across a website with their brands on I intuitively knew the affiliate cared more about their commissions than about the players they were trying to inform. They are very closely linked to Playtech and recently, Webroute Services appeared on the scene representing online casinos like Blackpool Club, bingo and some other stuff. Turned out that Webroute is owned by Cpays, if not outright, certainly partially, which didn’t exactly endear them to people.

So the fact a reputable brand is merging in with them could be a good thing. While Hill’s have a bad reputation for support, they are a very ethical company with a long history in bookmaking and wouldn’t dare put a foot wrong or get involved in anything that could potentially damage their integrity. So this has to mean that CPays will have to tidy up their act, although it could mean the brand gets soaked up by Hills which would be even better.

Early days, but I reckon this has to be a positive move. It will also help Playtech who have a less than stellar reputation when it comes to vetting licencees, and while they have the excellent BetFred and Bet365 on their books, adding Will Hill has to be good for them.
