The past cheating and encryption scandals at the CEREUS Poker Network (see previous InfoPowa reports) have made the poker industry considerably more security conscious and evidence of this is perhaps highlighted in a recent statement from UB.com and Absolute Poker .

The introduction of another layer of security will enable online poker players across the CEREUS Network to strengthen their personal security by adding an extra layer of user authentification.

UTICA FOUR PLEAD NOT GUILTY

The four Americans arraigned on internet gambling charges in Utica, New York state last week (see previous InfoPowa report) will not go down without a fight, reports local television station WKTV. The four entered Not Guilty pleas before the court Monday, and one of their legal representatives has opined that the prosecution will be hard pressed to separate the confiscated monies from the funds of other legitimate businesses owned by the accuseds.

SASKATCHEWAN FIRST NATIONS INTERESTED IN ONLINE GAMBLING?

The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, one of the Canadian province's fifty biggest companies with Cdn$200 million in revenue and Cdn$60 million in profits, is investigating the pros and cons of internet gambling, according to an announcement in the Saskatoon StarPhoenix over the weekend. The recently launched Full Tilt Rush Poker i-app may have fallen foul of new Android Market rules regarding classification of free-to-play gambling developments (see previous InfoPowa report).

The Washington Post reports this week that high school students attending George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia are learning math and logic reasoning through the fascinating and significantly skill-based game of poker.

Tutor William Snyder's poker club on the campus has quickly become one of the most popular extracurricular activities at the high school following its approval by school principal Tyrone Byrd in September this year, the report notes.

JADESTONE PARTNERSHIP WITH ONGAME NETWORK POKER CLIENT

In a deal announced this week, B2B poker provider and software supplier, Ongame Network will add Mini Games from Swedish online gaming developer, Jadestone Networks, to their online poker client.

The new games, positioned inside the poker client, include Blackjack, Roulette and slots and will be rolled out during the first quarter of 2011.

Following a strategic review, British-based Ladbrokes.com has announced that it will reduce the number of tailored language sites it offers and will focus on 13 tailored sites in nine different languages; supporting 17 currencies.

From 1st February 2011 Ladbrokes.com will no longer offer a tailored service in Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Finnish, Hungarian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovakian and Slovenian.
